Northwestern to Open New Traverse City Mortgage Center

Northwestern Bank, the largest independent community bank in northern Michigan, will open a new mortgage center on Monday, April 2 on the ground floor of the historic Hannah & Lay Building in the downtown Traverse City retail district.

The facility will be located at 107 East Front Street in between Cucina and Petertyl Drug, with customer entrances from both Front Street and the public parking lot behind the building.

"By opening on the street level near one of the busiest corners in the area, we hope to greatly improve accessibility for our customers, as well as increase our visibility," said Teri Damman, Northwestern vice president and mortgage center manager. "We've designed our new mortgage center to be an inviting, friendly space that makes it easy for people to come in and talk about new home loans, refinancing, and the many mortgage options we offer."

The Traverse City Mortgage Center will serve as a new home for the mortgage lenders who are currently based on the third floor of the Hannah & Lay Building. The bank's existing downtown office on South Union at State Street will continue to be Northwestern's primary location for personal and business banking services in downtown Traverse City and the surrounding area.

Northwestern Bank was chartered in 1955 and is now the largest independent community bank in northern Michigan. A growing financial institution with over $700 million in assets, the bank is one of the leading mortgage, consumer, and commercial lenders in the region. Based in Traverse City, Northwestern Bank offers complete banking, investment and trust, and employee benefit services from 23 offices throughout northern Lower Michigan. Northwestern is committed to an "I can do that!" approach to service, which empowers employees to make decisions on the spot to meet customer needs and exceed their expectations.
