The best features of a credit card and an ATM card-combined!
A Northwestern debit card lets you purchase goods and services in person or by phone from participating merchants worldwide. Use it to pay for purchases anywhere MasterCard® is accepted. However, unlike a credit card, your debit card is linked to your checking account and purchases are automatically deducted from that account. All you need to do is enter the transactions in your checkbook register-just like a check or ATM transaction. In fact, your debit card takes the place of your ATM card, so you can also use it to do your banking or get cash anytime.

Northwestern Bank also offers a regular ATM card that gives you access to your checking or statement savings account anytime at Northwestern Bank automated teller machines across northern Michigan and at NYCE®, CIRRUS®, and thousands of ATMs located throughout Michigan and worldwide.
How to get your card
To get your Northwestern Bank debit or ATM card, contact your local Northwestern office, or call toll-free (866) 935-4357. We'll quickly process your request and send you your card when approved. You'll also receive a confidential Personal Identification Number (PIN), which allows only you to gain access to your account.
Fraud Center
The security of your account is our top priority. Introducing our new ATM/Debit Card Fraud Center, which uses industry-leading technology to help prevent account fraud. Beginning January 12, 2009, if an ATM transaction or debit card purchase looks suspicious (based upon your previous usage), we'll call you to verify that the card is being used by its rightful owner. If there has been unauthorized use of your card, we can block further transactions.
It is possible that we do not have a current phone number on file for you. If we identify a suspicious transaction and we are unable to reach you, your ATM or debit card might be temporarily blocked to protect your account. To prevent any inconvenience and help us protect you, please call your local Northwestern Bank office and provide your current contact information.
If we are not able to reach you, we will leave a message that directs you to call toll-free (888) 685-2265. This 24/7 service can confirm transactions and "hot card" your card if you have not authorized the transaction.
If you are traveling overseas and a legitimate transaction has been blocked, you can call 24/7 international toll-free (866) 810-9385.
