Northwestern Bank and/or its subsidiary Northwestern Mortgage Company (collectively referred to herein as "Northwestern") will continue to adhere to this Privacy Notice should you decide to close your account(s) or if your account(s) becomes inactive.

How We Protect Information

   We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic, personal information.

How We Collect Information

   Northwestern collects or retains information about you from the following sources:

  • Applications or other forms that you provide to us (e.g., name, address, Social Security number, assets, income and investment objectives);
  • Information about your transactions with Northwestern or its affiliates, such as payment history, account activity, and usage;
  • Public sources, such as federal, state or local records (e.g., mortgage and lien information);
  • Your computer's browser, when you visit our websites; and
  • Information we receive from credit reporting agencies.

Sharing Information Outside Northwestern and Its Affiliates

Northwestern does not disclose nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted by law.

Sharing Information with Our Affiliates

   Northwestern may share certain information about you with our affiliates in order to provide you with complete financial solutions. Under the law, we are permitted to share identification information with our affiliates as well as information related to transactions and experiences we have with our customers. Northwestern is engaged in many businesses, including banking, mortgage lending, trust administration, asset management and insurance. This limited sharing of information increases your access to our products and services and simplifies transaction flows. Our affiliates include: Northwestern Bancorp, Inc.; Central-State Bancorp, Inc.; State Savings Bank; Central State Bank; and Great Northern Benefits, Inc.

Opting Out

   If you prefer that Northwestern not share information about you with our affiliates, you may restrict us from sharing information by opting out. Even if you opt out, we may still continue to share information with affiliates that identifies you and information on our transactions and experiences with you. If you choose to opt out, your election will apply to all products and services you obtain with Northwestern and its affiliates. (Opting out does not apply to the sharing of information outside Northwestern and our affiliates, because we only share information with nonaffiliated third parties that is permitted by law.)

   To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
   What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
